Feature request: Investigate performance of Polars in comparison to Pandas

Polars appears relatively quick and light on memory use in comparison Pandas, which may work well for embedded devices.

This may also be applicable to the DarkSide-20k database interface support scripts. The minimum Python version is 3.8, which is fine here, and tolerable for DarkSide-20k support scripts.
